To the Guest:

Welcome to the Friar's Journal. I decided to put up my e-diary on the Web as an additional occassion for interaction. Through the other pages that you find in this site, I have given some information about my past and my present. In the following pages, I will be sharing with you my daily struggles, the inspiration I receive through our library, and the prayers that I have found helpful.

I am writing this on the 6th of February, 2000, some five months after starting this homepage. During this time, not many things have happened to me (although one may say that I have made certain things happen); life has been pretty regular. The Y2K Bug Scare didn't scare us a bit; two new years have come and gone (the "regular" New Year, and the Chinese New Year), but everything seems to have stayed the same. So what am I to share, you may ask. And I answer: the drudgery, the boredom, the "regularity", the occassional "excitement" that we human beings share AND the "new" that can only be recognized as it emerges from the ordinary. It is this "NOVUM" which I wish to share with the surfer whom I know is well acquainted with what is ordinary. After all, the "new" cannot be recognized without the "ordinary" and the "old."

So surf on, friend, whoever you may be. And may your visit be refreshing to your soul.

Sincerely
Fray Abet
